Rosemount Elementary Website - Music Overview

Rosemount Elementary Music provides students with fun, engaging, and collaborative experiences that builds each student’s skills, musicianship, and overall love of music. In music class, students have opportunities to sing, play instruments, play games, and build meaningful connections.

Students learn and explore music through the following four components:

  1. Create - Students develop their abilities in reading musical notation to sing, play instruments, and create their own musical compositions.

  2. Perform - Students demonstrate their learning through a grade level performance given once each school year.

  3. Respond - Students construct interpretations of musical works by reflecting on the eight elements of music (tonality, timbre, texture, rhythm, dynamics, form, harmony, and melody).

  4. Connect - Students connect their knowledge, feelings, and experiences to music as well as draw in music from a variety of cultures.

1st Grade - 5th Grade students have music class for 50 minutes each 5 day cycle rotation. Kindergarten students have music class for 25 minutes 2 times each 5 day cycle rotation.
